    Default Merkur on Ebay

    Hi,

This is my first post here, This forum is full of great information. I'm looking for my first straight razor and found this on ebay. I really like the style, but it seems like there are a lot of other nice razors that I could get cheaper.

Is $60 to $100 too much to pay for this?

    Thanks,
    Jim

If I had the cash I'd blow a browny on it ($100). Great looker/shaver/collector. However, you can get something just as functional for a lot less.

Funny - I would never even consider it - even for $10. Just not my type...

BTW, listen to Firestarter, not me

I love those small quality round-points. Just like I love the mediterranean/south american/north african/arabic brunettes

I think this thing's a beauty, a real art deco classic. I love the pointed ends on jetblack scales. It was listed before with a hundred dollar minimum and no one bought it. I came very close but was in the process of learning, at that time, that I need a heavier razor for my beard. Too bad. Some people think big razors are the ultimate aesthetically. But I think this merkur is the ideal, I just have the wrong type of beard.

And yeah, firestart, i know what you mean, she does have something mediterranean about her--

You'll notice no mention is made of the size of the razor. There has been a bunch of these razors sold on Eboy over the past year or so and I think you'll find they are 2/8s razors. pretty useless for general shaving, great for trim purposes. I have one. They are NOS but really nothing special and IMO not worth more than about $30.00.

2/8? Wow, who would even need such a thing?

Well, I guess if you need to trim, or just want to touch up your five o'clock shadow.
