E Rant!!!
Ok fellas I don't usually rant but besides a flame 2 1/2 foot high ,this really burns my a$$!!! I make a razor sale on crap bay and send the razor out priority. The razor gets delivered and the customer promptly posts great feedback. So what's the problem you might ask? Well the first one is that PayPal now requires you to add a tracking number in their site. If not they hold your money! Even if you entered a tracking number already on crap bay!!! Second one and this is the one that really sets me off. Is that even though the tracking has been entered and the package delivered AND good feedback given it is NOW eBay policy that they place a hold on your money for another 3 days after that!!!! You have to maintain 25 sales a month to have this policy lifted. That is bullsh*t!!!!! They told me that positive feedback is no longer a requirement !!! So I asked them that a customer buys a radio from me and I send them a box of machine parts instead, as long as it shows being delivered and I wait 3 days after delivery I get my money?!?! And their response ??? YES!!! Are you kidding me?!?! How in the blue hell is this a good policy. It makes no sense!!! It penalizes the average Joe who sells on crap bay once or twice a month to wait on funds due him after a satisfied completed sale for what???? Just because?!?!? I went to war with them AND PayPal simultaneous this morning for 45 minutes over this asinine policy. Last time I sell on their site!!!! I will use Etsy or Craigslist or joe blows site. So beware! Unless your a volume crap bay business making more than 25 sales a month they will for no other reason than being stupid hold your money even though all parties of the sale are satisfied!!!

I gave up trying to understand ebay/paypal policy. Three months ago I sold something and theyput a hold on the money for 21 days. Last month I sold something else and the money was available for use immediately, even before I shipped. I am definitely an infrequent seller.

Thanked: 1371Don't forget that they don't allow alternative payments from sources that are really viable (like Google or private CC processors).
The only way its going to change is for someone to make something more seller friendly and then somehow get it big enough to compete, or possibly via some kind of anti-trust suit.

Thanked: 88Ebay has been slanted toward mega-sellers hawking chinese junk for a long time. I've been able to sell here and there, but it's no where near as friendly to small sellers as it was years ago.

Thanked: 1371I was just reading an article that mentioned that:
About 4 years ago they changed their business model - wanting to brand themselves as an e-outlet mall and less as an e-fleamarket.
Since then they don't really care about the low-volume sellers.

Thanked: 247I find it interesting how much must have changed. I've only used Ebay for selling for about a year. So most of the new policies that people hate, have been in place as long as I've been there. That said, I never had any problem with it. I don't have many other options for selling things to a national market except through Ebay. For the small amount of sales I procure, building a website wouldn't make sense. Plus, what would I call it? Let us know how Etsy works out though. It'll be fun to start seeing "I just bought this on Etsy. Did I get screwed?" Instead of blah blah ebay...did i get screwed?
Come shop at Regularjoe's Rummage Sale!!! Website under construction..
Not talkin about you with the "did I get screwed" thing. Just makin sure you knew.Last edited by regularjoe; 02-26-2012 at 04:55 PM.

Thanked: 194I hate both of them. I have had nothing but bad experience and even worse customer service. I try not to use ebay at all! Paypal is kind of something that I need though.

meh. I hate the policies too. I actually cancelled my PayPal account at one point because of their 30 day hold policy. There just isn't a real way around it if you want to let something go at auction.
Although it may not be feasible, it would be nice to have an auction section in the classifieds here. Not so much sorting through junk and I'm sure it would be more friendly for buyers and sellers alike.

Thanked: 41I have had nothing but great experiences buying on Etsy. Been shopping there for years now. I like the personal aspect of it, as it is geared more toward handmade wares. I like my money going directly to the crafts person as much as possible.
I've picked up a few razors on Etsy but would like to see more restored work there instead of just "vintage". So, I think there could be a decent market there for razor sellers.

I guess I just didn't know any better.
I shop on Ebay all the time and have never had a problem.
I sold something last week and didn't think much about the 3 day money hold.
What was weird is that the money came to me through Paypal and a week later they came after me for the service charges since they said my credit card was declined. They had a credit card on file for me that was Years old and 3 banks ago. Paypal had my current card number and I just entered my Paypal info to get them paid.
Couldn't they have done that themselves?
