    Default Manyware...Great Seller!

I recently won a NOS Gebr. Weyersberg "6000" from manyware. It was advertised as 7/8. I got it in yesterday, and it's actually a hair over 8/8. Needless to say, I was pleased. It was mint in box, with the wax paper still wrapped around the razor. Great service, too. Took exactly one week from the time I won the auction. I had won another one from him, too (a 6/8 Pradat-Brun) that came in a week from the time I won it as well. Really good seller, and he sells some super nice razors, too. Already working on some custom scales for it. Heart rimu, in a highly curved square end pattern...

He does sell good stuff and is very open and friendly

I find his razors sometimes go for more than I am willing to pay (not overpriced - just not great deals) because I feel many people who know razors, more or less, follow his auctions

One recent gem was a vintage frameback TI, I bid 77 or so and thought it's ok but lost (to another SRP member - which is at least a consolation). An identucal TI was sold in another seller's auction a week ago for under 35, but the pictures were not that good (to another SRP member - I happened to see and recognize the name and decided to refrain from sniping). Is the TI worth 77+? I think so, but would I prefer to get it for 35? You bet.

    Cheers

He is highly recommended, 6 days to NZ which is darn fast.
Some of his razors have bog standard generic scales fitted but you can't really complain coz you are getting a blade that is far superior to most modern offerings.
And besides you can always get some thing nice made to dress it in.

Post pics of the heart rimu when you've got them done Joe. Where did you get that wood ?

He sold three of those "6000 Electric" razors recently and I'm kicking myself for not moving on one of them. I'll second all the positives mentioned above about Manfred - excellent razors shipped fast.

Yep. I got one, and just ordered another. It's a beautiful razor, and one of the best shavers I ever had (a guy in Ireland bought it) was a Weyersberg. I'd say it's comparable to a Dorko.

I can chime in that I've bought several razors from Manyware, and he is a great seller. But you're right, his razors do go a bit higher, probably because he's a known quantity, and usually has good stuff. He's on my favorite sellers list.

I saw the TI, but took a pass.

question for you fellas who bought from him. Were his razors truly shave ready? By "ready" I mean to the degree as a razor sharpened by Joe, Bill, Lynn, etc.

No, I wouldn't expect them to be truly shave ready as far as having an edge comparable to what the guys you mentioned will put on a blade. They may be sharp enough to get a shave with but I don't know how good it would be.

All but one of the NOS razors I've bought have taken a nice edge pretty easily but personally I wouldn't try to shave with one right out of the box.
