Forgot to Bid
I was watching this auction and forgot to bid and now am kind of mad:
H Boker & Co Germany Tree 106 Straight Razor | eBay
I put my initial bid of $30 early on then totally forgot to keep watching it. In your guys opinion, what would you have been willing to pay for this razor? Also, would that nick at the heel be hard to grind/hone out?

I was looking at that razor. It looked really nice, but I have to stop buying razors cause I got alot that I need to work on now. I keep getting side tracked with new ones. Razors that say they were polished tend to scare me alittle. I just posted a thread about how I bought a razor that looked just like that one at a antique store (except wasn't a Boker), but didn't check it as well as I should have and found the edge to be really thin from what looked like buffing after a closer look and wont hone right. Hoping that I will be able to fix it and use it though.

I didn't think that polishing could wear down the blade so much but it actually makes sense. Thanks for the tip. I'll watch out for that and ask questions when I get tempted by shiney razors.

Polishing with a buffer can. If you use a rag it would be kind of hard to wear it down that much. That is for hollow ground razors.

Thanked: 884That razor looks to me like it may have been buffed as stated above.
You probably did yourself a favor by missing that lil dumplin'.
There'll be others.

well to answer your question. yes you can buff a hollow blade all the way down to tinfoil.... but i would have chanced it but only to the $30 you first bid i would not have bid any more on that.
