Thanked: 56It would sell for a lot more, for what wouldn't take an experienced hand very long at all. It is all a matter of opinion at the end of the day though so enjoy!

Got to admit that I had a $35 snipe in for the scales only as I have a W&B barber's use that keeps getting neglected in me making new ones for it. Figured I could do something to salvage the blade as well, but $70 is an awful lot. Though, having sold several things on eBay - trying to rationalize final bids on items (both way too high or low) is an exercise in futility.

Let me see, you have to remove about 1/8" of steel, may be a little more, then the edge will be right into the shoulder and at or above the belly from the double grind. You'll also never be able to get rid of those pits, without proper regrind, but you can certainly make them less noticeable.
Of course, once you get past the chips, make the razor shiny, and especially if you over/underexpose the photographs, you can convince a buyer who doesn't know much about razors to pay more than the $75 you paid for it, but that is only an illustration of "a fool and his money are easily parted". I don't know anybody who has moderate experience with razors that is going to pay that much money for a razor that was brought out of the grave.
W&B is just a hyped up brand, I can name 30 sheffield brands off the top of my head that are consistently better shavers.
BTW as a data point, when I listed a very rare w&b 1" wide with no hone wear it was only bid up to just under $200. So, I learned that while people are willing to overpay for junk, that doesn't mean that they are willing to pay the same amount of money for quality. Which is perfectly fine with me as I am enjoying the good stuff I get to have.

Thanked: 56I agree about wade and butchers being an over hyped brand! I don't get it, personally I'd rather have my KROPP or British razor Co. any day!
