Default Ridiculous postage charges. What's the worst you've had?

I've had some pretty bad ones over the years. A number of people in the US have charged me $28 to post a straight to Australia. Most are pretty good though. I managed to grab a Boker King Cutter from Canada last night for $9.99. The blade needs a little clean up but over all it's pretty good. It was listed as a H Baker and had average pictures. Anyway, I get the invoice today and the bloke wants $37.85 postage for a single straight razor from Canada to Australia. Canada Post website reckons that it should be about $9. I queried it but that's what he reckons it costs. I'll make sure I check the envelope for the actual cost when it arrives.

The same problem, also many sellers don't want to send anything to Ukraine except Priority or express mail

$37.85 sounds like he's gouging you as I too ship all over the world. From the U.S. it is around $15-16 as Pixelfixed mentioned. It can't be the exchange rate as the Canadian, Australian, and U.S. dollar are really close to one another. He's quite possibly jacking the shipping as you may have gotten this razor at a good deal, less than what he "thought" it should have went for.

I just won't bid on anything over (about) US$11, although there is one seller that reduced his postage charge from US$34+ when I asked him.
I also send the seller a message asking the postage charge if they don't specify it - saves any surprises.
    I didn't win the razor though....bugger

Priority mail does not work as such once the package leaves US, that what I been told at the PO. Once the package is in the hands of the foreign country postal services the package is not treated priority. This is off topic may be but though I'd share what I was told.

Depends on how it is shipped. A box inside of an express envelope from Texas to Australia with 1 expensive razor inside costs 38 US. A paltry 3.85 insures it! 41.85 total. It gets there in a week. OR he can do the 15 -16 dollar slow boat with no insurance. Agreed there is no speed difference in some cases between base and priority, but express is handled separately, from what I know.

$38 just doesn't sound right as I just sent a Priority box containing a full set of Naniwa's (2,3,5,8,12K) to Canada and it was less than that...insured.

How big a box you shippin?

As I know small flat rate box track only in US, but medium and large flat rate boxes must work even in other countries.
For example I recently received large flat rate box with tracking number CQ358228700US
You can check it, this parcel was lose and then found in Canada and reshipped to Ukraine

    Edit 1. Added tracking information

Express is express no matter where in the world, but the insurance is different story. Another thing what I found out is USPS does not insure for more than $46 IIRC, the argument being that they can't be responsible what happenes to the package in a foreign country. Express mail may be different but first class and priority have insurance limit.
