It looks fantastic, but useless... It's a shame the blade is busted up.

I'd love to see how much that thing would sell for if it were in better condition.

No worries from my perspective. It is a very ornate razor. I'm not really big on ornate razors probably because I can't afford them. The pictures below are are of the most ornate razor I own. Shutterbug, a member her on SRP and I had a barter arrangement, I restored several razors for him and he rescaled this Masonic Wade and Butcher for me. All of the scale work was done by hand by Shutterbug. I highly regard John's work.

As a Fellow Mason I have always been interested in Masonic items, I have seen several Masonic straight razors forsale but non that I would want to shave with, they are always listed as "For ornamental purposes" or with some other tag, did W+B actually construct a geniune masonic razor or was the etching added later?

I love your Masonic razor Joed! right up my street!

Unless we find a catalog or other sales literature showing a Masonic razor from W&B for sale I guess we will never know. My take is that the razors were commissioned by the Masons through W&B much like SRP might commission a razor be made for an SRP group buy. Freemasons were a very large group of prominent people in years past and I see it as highly probable that W&B was commissioned to make this razor. Here is a pic before rescalling:

Not in the Masons, Myself, but respect the order. The Shriners repaired a defective hip joint for me as a tot, thankfully!
I have 2 in original shape. A W&B and a huge Sudcliffe. They could shave, but I just display them.
Man that razor of yours is gorgeous, Joed! I remember the thread as it was being made. A True piece of art!
