    Peter,

Aha, so that's what ivory looks like in the flesh? I like the seller's comment: "I'm not sure what the handle is made of"... Lucky, that.

It look like ivory, but also looks a bit thicker than normal for ivory scales. The grain is fantastic though, so you never know. Good luck!

Looks like ivory to me. I've seen several ivory-scaled razors go for cheap on ebay because the seller didn't know what they had. A few months ago I picked up an ivory scaled Heljestrand #31 that the seller described as celluloid. $9.99 - I was the only bidder. OTOH, there's an awful lot of celluloid out there that the seller is convinced is ivory, so it pays to be cautious.

Well I received it today, unfortunately its not ivory ,However I`ve cleaned it up and should make a good shaver
    Kind regards Peter
PS the packaging for one razor was unbelievable ,you could drive a steam roller over the box and I think the razor would wind up ok

well there are plenty of sites overing infomation on weather certain items are Celluloid, french ivory or the Real Mcoy, the down side is the way to tell most of these is by finding out what it smells like when melted slightly, but there is also another way to tes once you have the itemwithout destroying the product and that is to use a Convex or Concave sheet of glass you should see Green grain or dots. Check HERE For details, maybe you could ask the Seller to take a picture through a sheet of glass before buying an item?
