    Default Interesting e-bay story!

A sellers on ebay had just put up for sale one of those norton combo barber hones that the ax men from Australia love so much.
But he had it listed as us shipping only so i wrote to him telling him that i was a straight razor user and was very familiar with this hone
and that he should change his listing to worldwide and he did and it sold for 950. So he e-mail me and asked for my address that he wanted to send me something. Few days later i received two straight razor A Morley and a droescher. The Morley will clean up nice
a little rust on it no pitting no hone wear the other is pretty much garbage.Name: morley 001.jpg

Have to appreciate a gentleman. In this case a pair of them, you for making the suggestion, and him for sharing the extra profit in a personalized way.

You may be surprised on the second razor. I have a Genco with almost identical hone wear that is a great shaver. I think they used to hone them that way on purpose so it would "fit the face" better. Try it and you may find the same thing, kinda ugly, but if you didn't like it, you could make it someone elses "starter" razor.

Well im sure it could be made shave ready it is very ugly and the scales are bad as well, so for now it will spend some time in the shop,
when i first started to hone i got a WB with a huge chip in it just to see if i could bring it back and what do you know its been part of my rotation ever since, but it took a while to make it shave ready!

I did have a thought! (Imagine THAT!) It is always someone contacted a seller, told him this and that, got blocked, etc and soforth.
Here we have an example of good communication and thanks. Helping a neighbor. Ebay used to be a community. In many ways it still is. Some fine people there.
Kudos for being thoughtful enough to offer a suggestion with no reward in mind. THAT says a lot about you.

I know there was a thread here recently about folks being banned by ebay vendors for pointing out errors in listings, asking questions, etc. Just wanted to say that twice in the last month I have contacted sellers whose listings had errors. One has mis-dated a razor, and the other appeared to be clearly misleading or simply posted by an ill-informed seller.

In the first case we ended up having a lengthy and excellent email message conversation. He quickly amended his listing and asked my opinion on some others he had. In the other case it turned out that the seller had mistakenly posted the same photos for two of his listings so that the details in the listing were correct, but the photos were of the wrong item. He also quickly fixed the listing.

So in short, there are still some good people on the bay who are receptive to constructive comments and questions.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
