Reasonable international shipping?
I just got what appeared to be a great bargain on 4 nice French razors. It was a bit dangerous, I knew, because I bid at the last second and the listing said to request shipping costs from France to the US, but I did it anyway figuring that shipping would be something like 15 Euros.
The invoice, however, pegged the shipping at 23.50 Euros.
Does that seem a bit high to ship 4 razors? I already paid because, well... I committed to the purchase when I put in the bid and I'd rather lose a little money than be a jerk -- especially when I'm just not sure if that's a reasonable price for shipping.
My sense is that it's a *little* high, but not outrageous.

It's not great, but I've seen much worse. I was about to bid on a razor out of Spain and requested a shipping quote. He responded that it would be between 30 and 40 Euros. Needless to say I didn't bid.

Aiyee! That's a bit on the high side, yep! In fact, that's in the vicinity of what I paid for this whole kit and caboodle!
I figured the shipping I paid was roughly equivalent to a US seller charging $7 to ship a single razor.
Last week I saw a simple strop go through eBay -- just a single leather strip, no hardware at all, the kind you could roll up and put in a letter-sized envelope -- and the seller was charging $18 for shipping. For some odd reason, it got no bids!

If it's any comfort I see the same the other way too, I have more than once seen sellers quoting $40-50 and a couple times even more to ship amsingle razor to Norway.
For the record, estimated shipping for four razors, regular first class mail in a padded envelope from Norway to US is ~$30Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

Thanked: 43I just saw today a seller showing a shipping price of $70 to ship a razor from the US to Canada. It just really depends.

I have had folks quote astronomical prices from the Us to Europe.
EUR23 seems OK.
Sometimes it depends on how bothered the seller is to look for a cheaper postage cost. My latest from the states to here is USD15 for one razor

If i'm about to put one or more razors in a padded envelope and ship it to USA, the cost will be 3,20€ (economy), 6,60€ (priority) or 9,40€ (w/ tracking number).
Parcels are about 15,00€ and up.
Shipping inside Scandinavia and EU is cheaper.
edit: oops. Because of the US regulations, folding knives are on the no no list.Last edited by Sailor; 08-05-2012 at 07:37 PM.

Thanked: 3225Purchased a razor from Germany and the shipping charge was 10 Euro. Shipping between continents is expensive by mail especially with insurance and tracking added on. Can/US or US?CAN shipping charges should be pretty similar by mail and less than between continents. Some sellers, I suspect, increase the charge over the actual postal charges to cover time and hassle of filling out customs forms for international shipping.

Thanked: 124Yeah, its insurance and tracking, prolly. If you know and trust a person who's getting what is being sent you can just mail first class international, which is about 4.00 for about 3.5 oz in the US now. You can't really blame sellers for covering thier a**es since paypal almost religiously sides with the buyer if there is a dispute.
