A pleasant surprise, for a change.
Last week I had to return two blades from e-bay because both had 1/4" crack from the edge that was not described in the auction. The sellers accepted the return with no argument. I will know for sure when I get my money back.
So today's arrivals were greeted with unwarranteed skepticism.
I set a $90+ snipe bid on this lot hoping that I am getting a 6/8 (described as blade too big for the scales that are on it, american eagle scales) and what looked like at least a 7/8 W&B For Barber's Use. The other razor I did not even look at.
Well I just got them and what a pleasant surprise. The 6/8 is a 6/8 W&B, shoulderless grind which will loose about 1/64 to 1/32" off the edge during restoration. Still a very nice buy.
However, the 7/8 is a tad under 9/8 at the widest point and definitely bigger than an 8/8 which I have from another auction so I can compare them.
The third is a Henry Sears & Son Queen 5/8, with some hone wear but will clean-up nicely but at this point I consider it comming with the lot for free.
Here is the auction picture (I will take one tonight myself and post later). From that angle it definitely does not even look like an 8/8 much less a 9/8:

I'll second Bill's bit about not being able to wait to see the restoration results. Gonna put us all to shame AGAIN

US /UK/ AU only
I have had this in my mind for some time.
I have seen many disappointed SRP members that cant bid on an item from a different country because the seller wont post internationally! I will put my name forward as a go between for anyone wishing to buy from England.
I will start a new post on Auction talk!
