    izlat,

Like I mentioned, the chip on mine is quite a bit smaller, but it is still there and the razor shaves great. I don't know how a chip the size of the chip on your razor will affect shaving. Hone yours and proceed with caution. If the shave even feels a bit off, STOP. If it will shave without problems, then all is well. If not, then you might have to try the other options.

    izlat,

I think, if there is no crack in the blade from the chip, that this blade would look great with a smile edge, and maybe even a notch/spanish tip. What better razor to modify than an adulterated, quality steel blade. You might be able to create a unique amazing shaver from what most turned away from!!

ONE thing to note though, in my experience with the Puma-Gold (I've had 2-3 in the past), the gold plating rubs of VERY easy, and on some, is where rust form first.

If the edge cleans up, keep this one clean and dry.......

Brave? Maybe just stubborn. If it were my razor, I'd at least give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Finally! - a vote for the smile Thanks, Chris

I am really torn, probably need to actually see the razor first before deciding. Prefer not to shorten, so honing or a smile grind seem better. Not sure if I have the guts to just hone shave with this chip as id

    Cheers

I don't recommend shaving with a chipped blade when newbies bring this topic up. However, one of my favorite razors has a visible chip in it (I'm not saying which one); it was that way when I got it. I couldn't bring myself to hone it out, so I just shave with it. I think the abrasive paddles have rounded off the corners of the nick so it doesn't scratch me. But that chip is nowhere as big as the chip on Ivo's Puma.

I've also got a frameback razor with a crack at the heel. But I don't use that part of the blade anyway, so I shave with it.

You know Ivo, don't sweat this. It is a beautiful razor. It's just a shame that it was damaged at all. If you can use it, great. If not, there are still plenty of great razors out there waiting to be found. The good news, you only paid $13.00 for it.
