I have a Henckels Friodur Inox blade handed down from my grandfather. I’ve noticed it is trickier to hone than my carbon steel blades, but keeps an edge longer. Patience is the key to honing these babies...

My first experience with a stainless steel razor was with a Friodur 5/8. I bought the razor when I was fairly new to honing and was eager to try it out. I put it through the usual paces, but could not get it to shave or hht. I put the razor in a box and decided to come back to it at a later date. A month or two later, after a pint or two of liquid courage, I decided that no damn razor was going to get the best of me. I pulled that sombitch out and went to work on it, with one pyramid, then another. Finally, that edge folded like a cheap suit under the mighty Shapton stones, and was ready for a final polishing and stropping. Thirty laps on the .5 balsa, then thirty on the .25 balsa, and finally this baby was popping hairs with ease. The ensuing shave was icing on the cake, and yielded a new favorite-status straight for my rotation box.
BTW: All this was done with a very light touch.

Thanked: 2That was the second time that razor was listed. The first time it didn't get any bids so I threw a low bid of $12.50 on it with no snipe. Looks pretty nice to me but I wasn't sure how much the cracked scale would affect blade stability so I never increased my bid.
I bought my two vintage razors from this same seller (Wostenholm and a Koch & Schafer), both were at least as good as described condition-wise and he ships lightning fast (got my last one in about two days). He also leaves ebay feedback as soon as he receives payment, first time I've had a seller do that. He's on my favorite sellers list now.
