Listed on eBay: Thiers Issard 7/8" Grelot Oak Wing Straight Razor, Limited Edition
I JUST LISTED THIS RAZOR ON EBAY SO IF YOU DESIRE PLEASE CHECK IT OUT.
Up for auction is a Limited Edition Thiers-Issard Straight Razor with scales, handles, made of Grelot Oak Wing wood. I am selling this razor for a friend who wants to sell it for personal reasons. He used this set three or four times so it is in immaculate condition. This razor will come shave ready.
The Oak Wing G is a special limited edition Thiers-Issard straight razor forged from the best steel available to date. This razor is number 270 as is its case. Classic Shaving, where this razor was purchased, believes that it is out of a batch of 400. Its unparalleled Carbonsong 135 steel, superior edge and improved forging dies, render it with an inimitable precision.
The blade surface, otherwise devoid of markings and graced by a pristine mirror finish, boasts a custom spine decoration. The intricate artwork combines bells, oak leaves and arabesques, in a design reminiscent of the engraving found on fine old firearms.
Each razor comes in a varnished maple wood case. Razor and case are numbered, and the case is inlaid with a commemorative brass wing emblem. Scales are extra-large, providing better balance and more depth, and made of figured maple wood, each with its unique personality.
Thiers Issard is one of the world's most distinguished manufacturers of straight razors. A family company established in 1884 by Pierre Thiers, it is also a preeminent producer of fine cutlery.

I've been wanting one of those from the first time I saw one. I'm reasonably sure my girlfriend would murder me in my sleep if I buy that. Despite the fact that it would be cheaper to get it than buy a brand new one. God I want it though.

I got #55 when they first became available. Paid more than the buy it now price on the one in the auction. If I had it to do over again .... knowing what I know now .... I wouldn't hesitate to buy mine again. Great looking razor and it shaves even better than it looks. OTOH, I really love TI and they did an outstanding job on that model IMHO. Someone is going to be a happy shaver when that lands in their mailbox.

Bill,
I bought number, I think, 247, and the other two LI Carbonsong's also. Vowed I'd keep them unused and would go to my grandsons unused. I've wanted to use them so many times, that, well I just bought your friends razor and now I can use it!! Thanks!!
Regards,
Howard
