My .99 Cent eBay Score Turned Into A Mystery...
The first two pics are of the Wade And Butcher Carving Set I picked up off eBay. I didn't read or pay attention to measurements prior to bidding but once I got it found that it is really something different. Wondering if it is a Salesman's Demo as the case kind of looks like something you'd see stacked next to each other with different handle/blade options. The last pic is a size comparison between another Wade And Butcher Set that is standard sized. Quite a difference. On the small set the blade does not really have a functional grind on it. I haven't looked under mag but may not even have a bevel set. Feels uniform yet quite dull; like something you'd pass around without worrying someone would cut themselves.
Just very interesting. I've searched around a bit but found nothing close or any info in general. Maybe Salesman's Demo is an incorrect term. Not sure what else it may be called.
Color me intrigued..

That's an old set. You don't know what kind of use it has had or how abused it might have been.
Carving sets do come in all sizes. it depends what you are using it for. For small items you would want a smaller tool.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Yeah, like for game birds you wouldnt require a 6" spike or 12" blades.
