Thanked: 480Post your own auctions?
I'm about to toss a number of razors on the bay. Is there any rules against self promoting here on SRP?

That is touched on in the rules here: SRP rules of conduct - Straight Razor Place Wiki
EDIT: it isn't exactly black & white and involves a judgement call, so maybe you'd want to contact a mod directly first to be sure?Last edited by Cangooner; 11-17-2012 at 04:17 AM.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

This is the pertinent part of the rules pertaining to the question ;
Linking occasionally to eBay sales is permitted but limited to the Auctions section. However links by members with inadequate forum participation are considered 'drive-by marketing' and will be removed.
IOW occasionally is 'once in awhile'. If it becomes a steady thing it is pushing the envelope. .

Thanked: 480I am not usually one to self promote my razors. I sell on the bay far less often than I buy, but this is sort of important, which is why I asked about it.
I will post a single mention when my auctions go up, and leave it at that.
I hope you wont think me too much "in poor taste" for doing it.

@ Magpie why not try and sell them here in the Classifieds?

I feel you are a great member here with a fine reputation. I see no reason why you could not link to your auctions here.
It seems the rules apply to passers-by and certainly not to you. You have done much to help others in this forum, Now, you are trying to help your Mom and, hopefully, find good homes for your razors. I would think fellow members would be proud to know they are for sale and to be able to bid on them.
JMHO,

I rest my case.

Thanked: 480Thanks Tom.
Its nice to hear nice things now and again.
I tend to err on the side of caution, so I checked to be sure. I had 9 razors up, and only placed the single post, so I think I stayed inside the rules. I have put a few razors here in the classifieds, but it seems that people shopping on here either want dirt cheap, or beauty queens. And time is a factor. I couldnt wait to see if I had a sale or no, 7 days, sale happens. Even if I dont get as much as I hope, or in some instances, found I got more than I thought I would!

Thanked: 2027Under the currant situation with this particular member I agree 100 % Sharpton.
But, why not not post them here? and save 10% ebay fees and 3 % paypal toke.
For one fair price,or take a chance of losing on the bay, than again, sometimes the bay turns out to be a good thing for sellers.
If this is okay with SRP,I may start doing the same.JMO
