If you truely want one just throw out a huge number and stop trying to get a deal on it.

Thanked: 1587Never give up! There's an Escher out there with your name on it. Not to mention your savings account's name on it.
Although it is not as easy as it may have once been, you can still get ahold of an Escher for a bargain. Just don't expect to be able to do it on ebay unless half the forums are asleep, it is mis-named, has the wrong photograph, and is in a completely unrelated category.
However, some advice from one who has not felt the sharp sting of the Escher wasp: if you are considering spending several hundreds on an Escher, do yourself a favour and consider a nice Jnat finisher from a reputable seller - my Escher has been relegated to the "intermediate polisher" pile since that fateful day - so many years ago now - when my Jnat arrived.
There are plenty of other things to spend your money on. Eschers are good stones, no doubt, but they are not as good as a good Jnat in my experience. And a good Jnat could be had now at a reasonable price, rather than waiting for a random amount of time for another reasonable Escher to pop up. If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.
Or just paste a strop. Same result, 1/2000th the cost

Thanked: 116Thanks for the advice Jibmo. I'm not too in-touch with what Jnats are all about BUT I've been talking to Maksim over at Japanesenaturals and I think i'm going in that direction.

Thanked: 247As someone once told me when I made the exact same post as you: There will always be another one.
Also, if you want it for honing, there's a thuringian stone in the classifieds of nearly that size for fifty. No label...but you can't really hone on the label anyways.Last edited by regularjoe; 12-02-2012 at 10:38 PM.

Thanked: 116Yeah, being so new to this I like the idea of having confirmation of what I'm buying. No offense to the poster of the Ad, but I don't know who he is, right?

I always thought the labels are more for the guys who just have to have the labels...I found one in the wild and promptly sold it because I have a vintage thurnigan that does the exact same job...it's not worth an extra couple hundred bucks for me just to have the label...but that's just me...some guys really want the label...

Thanked: 116I guess my lack of knowledge is to blame. I've never held anything that resembles a Thuri/Escher/Jnat so without a label you could sell me anything and claim it is whatever you please.
