    Default A new Ebay lesson...

$59.63 Sold! I get up at 1:30 in the morning to look at what this razor sold for, this razor
Big Antique Wade Butcher Sheffield Barbers Straight Razor Shaving Knife Razors | eBay
The new lesson is how little I know about auctions, the market, and razors. I didn't bid on this blade which I thought was amazing because I was sure I would be priced out.
I was not priced out, I was left out. So a question: was there anything wrong with this razor?

Actually I'm not seeing anything wrong with it. Not sure if you want to hear that since you didn't win it, but it looked quite nice. Sorry you didn't win it.

Maybe it's because it's not a 'for barbers use'.

I did't bid on the razor because I thought it would sell for a lot more. I hope someone got a good deal, it looks that way Actually I hope it was a member of this forum!

Auction sites are random, if you had bid $100, it may have gone for $101, or you could have got it for $61, BUT,you have to be in to win.

I was watching that one too. I didn't bid on it since I already have a 6/8 hollow ground W&B, but I was tempted.

It was a bad day for sellers I think. There was a decent looking Wade and Butcher wedge, looked like a 6/8, that sold for about the same price.

ive picked up a few on there at even lower that are great shavers ( seem to be the only thing i can hone right , lol) ive noticed that the " big blades" are the high dollars or the restores , i think ones in the 5/8-6/8 u have a good chance to win ... least thats been my string of luck on the bay .. anything bigger then 6/8 i dont even bid on anymore cause i cant compete ...lol

Not bidding is guaranteed to win nothing. If you set a price that you are comfortable with, then you get some and lose some. Getting caught in a bidding frenzy is unwise. Setting no bid at all is seldom productive. With this auction at least I found a new way to spell the word 'gorgeous'.

Yea, just like a lottery where no ticket is a guaranteed no win. You have to play to win and Ace has my idea of the right way to play.

The good news is that there is always something popping up on eBay. If you missed out on this one, there will be another soon enough.
