REHANDLED razors on ebay
Oke, I came acros this ebay-auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/palmwood-5-8-str...QQcmdZViewItem
and followed the link provided pointing to this site:
http://www.tjrakowski.com/
Seems somebody is growing money on rehandling razors BIGtime... (in the mean time he makes a star out of himselve in the 'about me' section )
Anybody know this guy
Michel
(confused about his TI blades which seems to have a neat/clear stamping of the name: Thiers-Issard in them... and I never saw that before - in my experience its some sort of a trade mark of TI to not stamp (the nomenclature part) the razor without letting fade away some of the characters)

His prices are a bit on the rich side. I'm glad to know the real market values lol.

Ilija,
Thats what made me 'worry'. I was looking at the "Thiers-Issard "Egyptian Keystone" Palmwood 7/8" at classicshaving (after viewing Lynns excellent DVD again, where he mentions this is an exceptional shaver - which all brands he shows are btw )), and googled it. Then I came across his version: http://cgi.ebay.com/palmwood-5-8-str...QQcmdZViewItem
which seems to be quite different (and not made of the steel the palmwood is made of...) but is definitely refering to the original one...

I know that a few of the guys on the DE forums have purchased brushes from Rakowski, and all have complained that the attention to detail was lacking as far as glue at the base of the brush.

I bought a brush from him a while back and the only complaint I had with the brush was it looked like the poly or whatever he used on it didn't cover that well in a place or two. But it hasn't given me any problems like brisltes falling out so I am still pretty happy with it and use it all the time. On his ebay post it was WYSIWYG IMO and I think what he listed was was I got. I don't have experience with other brushes so I really can't compare mine to other types to let you know how it compares. Think I paid $50ish after shipping.

Thanked: 0The new steel production Thiers Blades are laser etched , they still use the stamp on the Damascus. Because they are a small company which manufactures the blades the consistency of nomenclature is not yet established throughout.
I have (2) 5/8 blades that are not even avail in the US market yet, if you want more info kindly contact me. Ohhh, they are Sweet!
Get to know me, I do things with handles using materials like ivory (mammoth that is), Amber, pink ivory, abalone, etc. The standard die cut handles lack the warmth and design uniqueness
Nice talking to you gents.
