    Exclamation Bigelow & Dowse

Got this off the bay, Less then 20 bucks!
Bigelow and Dowse Made in Germany 523 3 4 Style C thru Lettering Pen 2 Pieces | eBay
It arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out to look at it.
The one scale was cracked near the pivot (I knew this already) but other than that it was in GOOD shape!
Did the arm hair test and it was pretty close to sharp.
Got out the Norton 4000/8000 and had a go at it.
I am NO honing expert by ANY means but I got it quite sharp IMO
Took it to the shave den and all I can say is WOW!
Since I am pretty NEW to SR Shaving I took the approach of beard minimization, which worked out WELL!
Got a NICE DFS from this puppy
This thing can put my brand new Dovo to the test!
I can't imagine what it would shave like with someone who KNOWS what they are doing on the hones sharpened it!

Time to get a set of scales on it and put it in the rotation!
Wonder if I could CA Glue the scale back together and use that? Hummm......

Yes you could, make sure you spread a lot around the inside of the scale. Don't just apply to the crack, once you have the crack joined then
you should have a base around 1 inch long on the inside (1/2 inch on each side of the crack) for the forces to be distributed through.
You could even apply some to the outside if you weren't to worried about cosmesis, to ensure structural integrity.

Well I repaired it and gave the blade a QUICK buffing.
Went better than expected since this was my FIRST re-pinning attempt also.
    Thanks for the advice Carl!
