Thanked: 9Sniping this for the DE!!!
Hi all
I just thought this is pretty ironic - I haven't shaved my face with a DE since I first tried a straight (and don't plan to)
THis lot has both a DE and SEs but I want to get it for the DE - I just think it's fab! And I still use a DE once in a while (armpits, etc.)
Also, I think it may make a nice gift for my wife. I will just borrow it occasionally
Cheers
Ivo
btw, if someone wants the razors (for cheap - whatever he / she can spare) - just tell me, I'll consider it in my bid

Ivo,
I'd take those two straights for $20 shipped if you're interested. They look like they'd make nice newbie razors.
Let me know ...

Uhm! you know thats not a DE, right. It is a safety razor but it isn't a DE. It will hold the blades pictured just to its right, The ones kind of like a chunk of hollow ground straight razor, but no others. You will have to keep them honed and stropped just like a straight. I do believe the most common brand of these is the Autostrop razor. I'm not any kind of expert and I've never owned one so I can't tell you how easy or hard they are to maintain but I just thought I'd make sure you knew what you were getting.

Thanked: 9My bad - I sure know this is a single edge and this is one of the major reasons why I am thinking of getting this. I plan to hone them for her and should do alright. Even though I had not thought how to strop them I'll go ask on the DE-heavy sites, I guess
DE and related implements are not my forte, as one can guess
Josh - this is great. I too think they will be good cheaper shavers (not only for a newbie, though).
Cheers

I have a couple of valet autostrops, never used them though. The set pictured is very nice, but it doesn't appear to have the strop included. However, the autostrops are highly collectible, or so I've heard.

Thanked: 346This razor didn't use a built-in strop like the autostrop. There is a holder that fits the blades for honing and stropping purposes. It's the piece in the front center of the case - the razor handle attaches to the holder and the blade slides in to the holder so you can hone or strop. This particular kit as both the long slender handle (attached) and the short fat handle (rear center) - usually these kits are missing one or the other.
These come up every few months, and every time I think about getting one and never do. There are also 7-day versions of this same kit.

Thanked: 9FYI - I am not bidding. I talked to my wife, and she does not want it. It's a shame, but she is sure she won't use it...
Cheers

Ivo,
Let me know when it arrives and I'll send you $20 for the straights. Unless you want to keep them....
