Thanked: 9Getting outbid
I seem to be getting outbid often lately
At first I was wondering what's going on, then I figured this should be a good thing because it shows I'm not as razor-hungry as I once was
Cheers

Ivo,
You gotta learn to let go, man.
I got bid sniped by one urleebird the other day. Made me a little mad, because I thought I was the one doing the sniping.
The auto bid sniping thing for me eases the pain of losing, because I haven't sat eagerly in front of my computer for the final 45 minutes of the auction, clicking refresh over and over and over...
So just set your snipes and then be content with whatever happens. There are always more razors in the 'bay.
Chillin',
Josh

Same with me for the last couple months. I've only been bidding on a few that look like interesting bargains and don't feel bad at all when I'm outbid. Actually, it's usually a relief. Snipes are rarely going through since bidding has passed my price by late in the auction.

I got sniped by altima - on a very nice dubl duck - went for under $40.
I have no doubt it will go for$100 or more after its cleaned and sharpened (not that it needed much work).

I agree, prices have been high lately. Everytime I think I find a nice razor in a group of razors, I put in a reasonable snipe bid and I usually don't even come close! Even fat boy adjustable DE's are running in the upper 30's or low 40's lately. Could it be that a lot of people have Christmas money burning holes in their pockets or is it just because the weather is crumby in the northern hemisphere and we're all bored?

Thanked: 9I think there are many new converts to straights and wet shaving in general
This is a good thing... too bad it drives prices up though. Some of these razors I thought were overpriced to begin with...
Cheers

Thanked: 0I was watching a couple of W&B about two weeks ago and I saw urleebird try to snipe both of them. I still got the one that I was bidding on but at a slightly higher price.
I've been pretty lucky lately. Got a 8/8 W&B along with an Imperial for under $30. They never said that it was an 8/8. Also got a worked back Boker along with another one for under $35. Again, they didn't say that it had a worked back.

There are too many ifs in the Eboy bid process. What if two guys get into a bid war, what if some collector type is looking for that piece, what if some guy just has to have that particular piece no matter the price.
I've got to a point that I've got enough razors that I'm pretty selective as to what I would buy and what I would pay for any razor and I find if I wait long enough something always comes along at my price. But of course if someone puts up a DD Satin baby or Stainless Duck everything I said is out the window and You all better watch out because no one outbids thebigspendur! No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

i agree with the new converts driving up prices, but then again we do want new converts to revive the art. I just hate to see the dubl ducks going for 150 to 350 bucks. sometimes i think ebay has a spy that browses are forum. Maybe Lynn should starting saying "zeepk are the best razors I have had the priveledge of shaving with" that way we could see if the price goes sky high on 'em.
