Default It's Not Just Me Is It?

Normally I avoid making, or even commenting on, posts concerning questionable ebay auctions. Unscrupulous and ill informed sellers are hardly rare, and I think that more often than not even a total newcomer should be able to spot the most ridiculous auctions with ease.
However after having seen this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-RARE-MINTY...QQcmdZViewItem I just had to comment.
Please tell me whether or not I am missing something here, but $45 plus $10 shipping for a razor box is a little insane.
I understand that a razor collector has different needs than those who shave with straights, but $55 for an empty box?
If anyone wants me I'll be curled up in the corner waiting for things to start making sense again.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

And for only $10 more he'll ship it with a $4 stamp.

I'd never pay so much for even a mint box, maybe someone would or think that there's a razor included.

It's not just you: I was on my way to posting the very same auction with the very same amount of incredulity when I saw your post. It boggles the mind. I almost am tempted to buy it, then email the guy in a few weeks to let him know that I've had the box professionally appraised and discovered its true value is about $1.7-million. I'd then offer, out of fairness, to sell it back to him for $1000.

This guy is a bit brazen. Usually they have a picture of the box and razor, then in the description mention that the razor isn't included in the auction and is only there "for scale".

I'm glad to know that it's not just me who is bemused by this auction.
My main problem with it was due to the fact that I have had razor boxes shipped from America to the UK for only $5 in the past, and most importantly, those boxes have actually had razors in them as well.
Still, if anyone wants a minty box for a homeless Henckels you know where to go.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

You know when you go out fishing in the ocean and throw out a bucket of chum and hope it will attract the kind of fish you want? Well that guy is fishing also. He's hoping he'll attract a fish who'll take the bait hook, line and sinker!
