I been there. Im recovering right now LOL.
I am going to quit too but I am doing it for my health.
I think I will just get some razors I WANT now instead of what looks like a good deal.... (In a month or two)
UNLESS some AWESOME deal comes up... LOL
wooo boy. You want to talk about an ugly acquisition disorder. I've been buying razors and hones and strops and brushes. Way too much cash out of my pocket. I'm hoping as stuff shows up and I get overwelmed and stop. Can you say compulsive personality.
Wait until you get an email from paypal asking for your bank account info, then you will know you have a problem!
Eric
I thought it was when you get the letter from the paypal CEO thanking you for single handedly driving the stock up.
got my email yesterday. not from the ceo though
im with you , i have a bunch i wish i didnt buy , least now i narrow it down to certain things :)
Fear not, "bans" are usually temporary. You'll be back in no time. :)
You're not alone! Since I joined this forum in December 2012 I've bought 25 straights, 5 brushes, 5 DEs, Naniwas 1,3,8,12k, DMT 325, shave cream and soap to last me 10-15 years etc, etc.
I tend to be Compulsive with everything. Shopping and dating and eating.
I am so addicted to buying things that i have 9 japanese man made water stones.
just cause they where a steal littery. I am so addicted to buying things i think i have about 20 axe heads that need handles. i have 10 axes with handles. i have two hand saws for bucking logs. I find it hard to part with any little thing i have. I even have a clever that my friend was saying i crazy for dicing ginger with it super small. 2 paring knives 3 meat craving knives 2 chef knives 3 bread knives one pocket knife that i keep in my pocket. Handy really for eating apple i always use a knife.
Join the club, most of us have the same problem, I went from 1 razor in about January to about 16 and six more on the way, looking for the best razors, I am also starting to sell off the ones that I don't think are all that great or average or not bad but not super great to try and recoup some money and try to get ones that might be better for me. RAD is alive and well!
That feeling when you bid on so many things that you KNOW you actually won't be able to pay for it if you actually win all of them. AND THEN YOU BID ON SOMETHING ELSE!
*uppercuts self in the face*
I'm going to have to sell some razors just so I don't get non-payment cases initiated against me LOL
Hehehe, I have racked up about 300 and something dollars in auction wins which I need to pay for. bank balance is at -3dollars right now and I will get about 500 dollars to last me the next 2 weeks on tuesday. I really need to put a stop to this, or start selling some stuff
Yeah, but what about all that $ we're saving on those crappy cartridge razors? How about that Barbasol I didn't buy this year? That stuff adds up too; doesn't it?
You can quit ebay but you can't quit RAD.
There's always craigslist, antique stores, garage sales, estate auctions and good old fashioned flea markets to keep the hunt alive.
The only treatment for RAD is to contract WSPS (Wet Shaving Proficiency Syndrome) or depending on the condition of RAD items PRRaMD (Pervasive Razor Repair and Maintenance Disorder)!
Good luck and God bless.
My justification is that it's an investment, =]
LOL Man 2 things came in the mail just before and my SWMBO LITERALLY Roundhouse kicked (she use to do Wing Chun Kung Fu and recently taken a liking to Muay Thai Kick boxing) me saying " YOU PROMISED!!!NO MORE" before I could explain to her that one package was the strop that larry from whipped dog was sending me from the pack I bought months and months ago when the poor man's strop's were out of stock and that the other package was razors back from sharpening. Lucky I have good reflexes and I guarded with a shin block or I'd have cracked ribs right now.
so, in light of this I say... what SWMBO Don't know.... won't hurt ME Lol
My wife is also into kick boxing. Funny that. Do they go there to learn to combat the RAD?
Saitou, that was one of the funniest narratives I've read in weeks, thanks for the laughter.
WhiskerHarvest say: He who block with shin strop on one leg.
Women are quick to point out our RAD without ever addressing thier own! I would compare my fondness for shaving paraphernalia with the acres of fabric SWMBO has hanging in the walk-in if I wasn't so afraid of the trickle down argument that is guaranteed to ensue.
I KNOW! She has bought stuff from china trying to start up her own ebay business! and paid 300 dollars for a dress makers mannican, an expensive sewing machine. and she has yet to turn a profit on ebay. I on the other hand could sell all my stuff that I've bought at the VERY LEAST break even most likely have something on top. but no she won't hear any of it I will just recieve a muay thai knee/elbow combination
I love hearing that other brides are just as intolerant of razors as my sweetness. My wife doesn't beat me physically mind you, but she is an expert in psychological warfare. I still shiver reminiscing on some of her better threats.
As it turns out, I happen to be spiteful and inventive. I make sure I have lots of stubble on date night so it looks like she was making out with a cactus! And I have been collecting one brand of razor which makes it way easier to justify RAD then random purchases. Razor complaint has been down in recent weeks.
Remember gentlemen, if you have surpassed seven razors you can still use the seven day set argument if you are attempting to collect seven from one maker. There is also nothing as sophisticated as a man who has shaved with razors of different origins, today I sample Germany, tomorrow Japan!
Wait, I don't think this will help keep anyone off ebay! Sorry gents!
Ahh! the things us men have to resort too! My SWMBO is very understanding, we also come from a martial arts background, I just explain that I just want to get of nice set of razors to shave with and I will sell off the rest once I try them a few times, actually that is true on my part. I have started to sell off the ones I don't want. The truth is easier and I get to sleep in the bed instead of the shed. :)
I finally figured it out (took a couple of decades). The more SWMBO says she saved simply means she spent more. Its like one of those theorems we learned in High School geometry.
Do you guys think this could be honed out?
