    Default Escher style hone

This is another labeled German hone that I sell before three years.
Recently I decide to sell on ebay another vintage labeled Thuringian hone under the trade mark of "Swan" or "SCHUTZMARKE" razor hone.
    Enjoy!!!

Never seen that label before. Thanks for sharing.

To the other stone you mentioned that is currently on the bay. It's an interesting stone I have been watching for a while. By the way- I think it is not a swan the label shows - but a dragon. The stone is worth for an extra thread with photos - if the SRP constituation allow to post a thread on an actual selling on ebay. I got some information on the company and some other side informations that might be of interest.

Default Some photos for the vintage Thuringian "Swan" labeled water hone!!!

Here some photos of the "Schutzmarke" razor hone!
If you need more pictures, just let me know!
I recently decide to increase the selling price to this hone as it's a very rare labeled and fine stone.
From this action I don't thing that it will be very interest about my stone, but I don't mind at all to have it in my collection!
Have a good day and enjoy!!!

Well this hone is a good example -if it really is a thuringian, which I cannot confirm only seeing the fotos- of thuringian hones that were labelled and sold by Solingen companies.

In the high times of the thuringian water whetstones the most thuringian hones that were not foreign exported were delivered to Solingen steel ware companies, mainly of course the straight razor companies. Heinrich Böker, the famous razor company also sold thuringian hones under their name.

The stones were posted from the thuringian hone companies in large wood boxes that you will see in the following pictures (exhibition in the slate museum Steinach):

But back to your stone promitheus. The company that labelled the stone was Ernst Scharff Kober Co. with locations in Frankfurt and Solingen in Germany. The logo changed a little bit over the years but I think this one from around 1900 comes close to the one on your stone:

The company produced straight razors too but I think were more famous for their hand hair clippers they sold and that you still can find on ebay and elsewhere.

The hair clippers are often signed E.S.F. Juwel.
