Dunno, seems a lot. Maybe the nice embossed box is 'collectable'? (Or it's just another example of 'beer + ebay = '? )

If I understand ebay, though, there was one other bidder prepared to pay $2 less than the winner paid. 33 bids mean there was quite a bit of interest.

Looks pretty clean, nice box. Would be a great display piece.

I have one of these; mine is in good condition, but this one in question , is in great condition. The label appears to be original & bright. Since most of these labels are glued inside(almost impossible to get out without destroying) & the case is so shiny, I tend to think it is close to N.O.S. condition. The one thing the seller said that is correct, is that they are rare to find in this great of condition. I would have put $100.00 on it, but not much more.

There is nothing to explain. I fact it's quite the opposite - this explains why we don't do valuations; you can't. Stuff is worth what someone will pay, and that's all there is to it.

If I had a dollar for every time I was on the bay and said "really? WTF" I would have enough for more stuff. There is no telling where stuff is going to go. Somedays it's give aways the next everything on your watch list is crazy high. I watched a chipped and worn Franz Swaty go for $200 and four others in better shape for less than half. I'm with you though sometimes you just ?????

Thanks for the replies guys. I realize there are some hardware/tools collectors that like collecting old simmons/keen kutter and norvell shapleigh stuff as well so that may have something to do with it also. Probably seems strange to them that I'd care more about what the rock inside it is like than the nice case it came in lol.

This makes me feel real lucky. I bought a nos DD barbers hone and I see many others in bad shape going for about the same. No body was talking about it that week I guess. Mine did not come in such a fancy tin though. Some things you just got to have no matter how much they cost. It looks to me like tax refunds are rolling in right now. Prices are up on certain razors too !

NO I am not drinking !
