RARE Antiqur Straight Razor Mold Cast or Uncut Blade RARE | eBay

Looks like a stamped blade blank. Similar to the ones in the old Dovo youtube video. I don't remember which video it is but probably one of the top three.

Heh I actually was the one who picked this one up. I have no idea on rarity; certainly I don't see them much. I believe it is an initial razor stamping (most of the newer hollow ground razors in Solingen were stamped rather than forged). Here is one that went off earlier but I didn't get: 2 Antique Vintage "Uncut Cut " Straight Edge Razors Blade Only L K | eBay

Note it has the bar of steel stil attached from which it was stamped. Here's a screen of the old DOVO video of production; you can see the stamping with the bar.



I think the hole on one side is a stamped pilot hole. So I think these couple auctions were reject stampings that made it out rather than getting reprocessed.

Definitely keep it as is. I just thought it would be cool to have what the starting material looked like. Maybe I'll make a shadowbox with a bar of steel, this blank, and then a finished razor. (this one, I'm sure, is pre-heat treat)

Ha! I grew up with those glasses. We had the dudley one as well as all the other cartoon characters they came in.
