SO, um, hm.
(how to say this, how to ask...)
Where, um, where would you say these razors are made?
You know, I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say it's not Germany, France, Spain, England, Italy or the USA.
Perhaps, now color me crazy, but I'm thinking somewhere closer to Pakistan, or China...
You know, I could be wrong on this. I could.
But. Probably not.
C utz
They could be NOS Polish-made, but I'd like to have a real honemeister test one before forming an opinion.
without a doubt made in poland, produced at factory wapienica in 70` http://www.wapienica.com.pl/
I'd be interested in giving them a try, along with the hone and strop combos, but I would not be able to buy one until after the 31st, when I get paid.
John P.
Are you planning on putting up some BIN auctions or making sales off e-bay? I might be interested in giving one a test shave or three, depending on the price.
If they're not made in Poland then for that price I'll bet anything you want they're taking POS lessons from Pakistan.
What's your connection to these razors wojtec?

Tell us more about these razors. What sort of steel are they made of? What's the shave quality they give? What size are the blades? And what do they cost in euros and dollars?
Can we bid on them? Does seller ship overseas? Can we communicate in English (or German?) with him to ask questions?
I also would be very interested in the connection.
Hi. I just both this razor from wojtec76 (I live in Poland. Hi wojtec) still shipping... I can post some hi-res pictures when I'll get it. Some other guy is selling very similar razors on Polish ebay. He claims that these are from some old military supplies here in Poland - so maybe wojtec76 has the same source...
I asked Tadzio for the review of the set (razor, hone, strop), my English isn't good
I did talk to wojtec76 and the other guy that is selling these cheap razors on polish ebay. Both razors were produced up to late 70’s by polish company Wapienica http://www.wapienica.com.pl/en/mainEN.html. This company does not produce razors any more. Those come from some supplies that these guys have access to.
Wojtec76 told me that straight from the box razor is very blunt and he must take much time to make each of them shave ready – the good news is that he does it before sending.
As for me reviewing the razor I don’t think I can write valuable review since this is my first razor and it will be my first straight shave. I can only promise that I’ll post some hi-res pictures of the razor the same day I’ll get it.
I think wojtec that you should send one of the razors to some experienced person form the community to have it tested.
I placed a small bid on one of these, but won't be able to do anything with it before Feb. 22nd as I'm going on vacation on Saturday.
I put a low bid on the other one. I'm a sucker for french points...
Great guys!!! We'll have a review finally.
I won't be able to buy one just yet, but they look very similar to the razors used in Czech army tonsorial kits, available on this site.
I'm interested in giving them a shot, just won't be able until after the 1st.
John P.
Can you post a link to the page - couldn't find the kit you mentioned.
Thanks
Search for "razor" :-)
That's what I did - only got a listing for a French army razor.
So did I. They sell enough for a change of career as a mercenary!
Hi finally I got the razor wojtec76 is selling here in Poland. I post hi-res pictures so you can take CLOSE look ;).
I think that the blade looks fine the scale is made of two pieces of metal that you can easily bend - it feels light and delicate. It also seems a bit small but since this is my firs razor I can not judge.
As for the ‘box’ it is made of cartoon it has the name of company WAPIENICA and on the second part (it is dark so it is hard to notice) it says: SURGICAL RAZOR ;)
It really has this special feel of communism (it was produced in Poland around 70’s) that most of you were lucky to never experience…
I can’t wait for someone with straight shave experience to test the EDGE of this razor…
I still need some study to take my firs shave…

Man, I love the styling of this baby. It's so Eastern Block old-school. Being born in a former communist country (ex-Yugoslavia), I was also exposed to the bare bones socialist functionality. Let's hope the steel is fine-grained and tough enough to shave with.
It looks like they may have sold out of them then, perhaps Google and look at the cached page.
Mine came with 1 set of manual clippers, a hawk billed knife, a nail file (I think) 2 pairs of shears (not sure what kind) an all steel straight, around a 4/8" if that, a small handheld strop (basically a strip of leather tacked between the ends of a small curved piece of wood, and a comb. This was all stored inside a canvas bag with slots for each item (I may have forgotten one or two things, and a few other things were supposed to be included that I did not get, such is life when ordering surplus)
The whole kit was about 135. Technically that French army straight was the first straight I ever bought, perhaps 5 years ago, but that was before SRP and before knowledge about these was widespread. I also was able to hand-pick mine, at the location, from a large bag of them. Unfortunately, I used it as a knife...and it isn't available locally anymore for me to go look at. (The company was bought out by the same people who sell those lilliput models or whatever and come from a warehouse in Las Vegas or something these days)
Hope this helps.

I did the search for "razor" too at John P's site and it does look appealing. Simple, but appealing.
Please let me know if any of you get it and shave with it. It is one which I think I may go with if it gets good reviews.
I did shave everyday since Monday when I got it (the Wapienica razor). I must admit that it is not as comfortable as my Mach3 but, to my surprise, I don’t get more irritation and the shave is better and closer every day. I still have problems with my neck but rest of the face looks good after two passes.
I really look forward for a review of the razor by some experienced member here since this is my first razor and I really want to know how it compares to brands like DOVO.
Just received my hone and 2 razors!http://straightrazorpalace.com/..//f...lies/smile.gif Thanks Wojtek!
The hone is 6x2 and looks as expected. It is a slate based hone that has been lapped on one side. How it will perform as a hone is to be determined.
The razors are surprisingly attractive and appear to be very well done. I noticed no flaws.
Here are some pics....

I am very pleased!:tu
Well, I just finished honing the razors!http://straightrazorpalace.com/..//f...lies/smile.gif
I examined the edge with the microscope first. It appeared better than any other new razor I have honed! Perhaps Wojtec did some honing on this before he sent it to me? The bevel was very narrow but clean. The razor was not shave ready when I received it.
I started with a 1000 grit sandpaper using a straight across angled tip push stroke. It was then that I noticed a very slight
warp to the blade. No big deal, some new Dovo's have been much worse. I simply changed to an X pattern stroke and then it honed up nicely.
Next I went to the Norton 4k followed by the 8K and finished with a coticule. Now the edge still looks very clean and is very sharp!http://straightrazorpalace.com/..//f...lies/smile.gif
The steel is neither soft nor very hard. It reminds me of the standard steel used in German made full hollow razors.
This razor has a wedge grind, single concave, and it is very nicely done. The weight is neither very light nor heavy.
Tomorrow wll be the shave test.
So wojtec76 is the seller in the link? I ordered one yesterday and was wondering how fast the mail was for randy?
No need to apologise, it wasn't because I'm trying to rush anybody. I just had no experience with mail from poland and was wondering what the transit time is.
one week priority mail
WOJTEC76,
What would be the price of just 1 razor, shipping to the Netherlands?
Thanks,
Michel
It was 8.50 euro shipped to the Netherlands
20 PLN for the razor and 12 PLN for the shipping.
Oh crap..... my RAD is kicking in again
Will it ever stop?? Will it??
I want one soooooooooooooo bad.
Well, I got mine today and was pleasantly surprised by it. I love the look of it and it's well put together. It took about 20 laps on my 10k stone and a few laps on the 1 and 0.5 micron pastes to get it shave ready.
A good smooth shave although I did have to strop again half way through it. All in all a really nice razor and spectacular value for money!
I did two sessions on the hones and shaved with them this afternoon. My beard prep was excellent since I was shave testing 4 razors, two Sheffields and two Polish razors.
The Wade & Butcher passed with flying colors, The two Polish razors need another session or two on the hones and the last Sheffield razor definitely needs more honing.
I do like everything about the Polish razors so far. Two more shave tests will bring them up to par. So far they "feel" like a Dovo when shaving.
Mine just arrived. I can´t wait to get back from the vacation, check it out and take it to the hones
