At this point I don't think I want to get into full restoration work just touch up between professional honing. It looks like the Naniwa 12k is a popular choice for this. What do I need to get started? Dose honing/touching up have a steep learning curve? I still have my free honing coupon from SRD so I plan on using that after I screw up my razor trying to learn to hone.
I think what cudarunner said bears repeating. " Keep working on your stropping, it should help not hinder an edge! "

Whatever damage you can do on a strop you can do tenfold on a hone.
That said a 12k for learning to touchup is a good starting point when you feel ready to hit the rocks.

Learning to touch up a razor is how I recommend to start out as well. You have several veterans giving you sound advice, listen. Learning to properly hone a razor is exponentially more difficult than learning to shave. Remember, sharp and shave-ready are as different as night and day...

I just got my razor back after Lynn honed it. It is amazing how much smoother it is I now know that I want to learn to hone. I know that it may take a long time to get to his level of proficiency but I think it is time to start learning because I can't go back to shaving like I was before.

I'm very glad that you used the coupon to get that blade back to where it should be!

However, you haven't been listening! You have YET to learn how to strop, let alone, use a straight proficiently and you want to learn to hone!!!?!?!?!?!?

You have to learn to walk before you can run!!!
