Bouncing Ring?!?!?!?

Got my Timor Hamburg Ring back this week and have been sat eagerly awaiting Sunday to get the quiet time to give my first attempt go.

Lathered, stropped and got underway, hell fire the thing is sharp. Cheeks were fine, glided like a dream, but I tried the neck and the razor bounces.

I am going with the grain so...am I using enough pressure is there something else I have done wrong?

I have just noticed that the blade is concave is that normal?

All razors are concave, some more than others, even the so-called "wedges".

If your razor is bouncing on your neck then either the angle you are using is off or your not using enough pressure. The angle is the most likely.

Remember that hot water is your best friend!

I'll focus on the angle, thanks for this.

By concave I mean the edge is not straight? So from heel to point the actual cutting edge bows in, not straight or out? Does that make sense?

I find dry skin will aslo contribute to bouncing. Make sure you're properly preped. If the lather is drying out by the time you get to your neck you might want to reaply.

Concave shaped edges are a bad thing. you will not get an optimal shave from one. Convex is to 'flat' edges prefered by this shaver. You'll need to reshape that blade with a low grit like 1k or so until it shapes up.

Think that is waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond my feeble skills. It's only noticable when held against the Crown And Sword I got off e-bay and the Timor is Brand new. I'll ask the guys at Classicshaving what they suggest as they supplied and have been very helpful since!

Can't wait until tonight, should have enough stubble to go for round two. Tonights focus...hot water and a shallower angle.
