    Shave #210.3 - A Break From the U.S. Championship

I've been watching the U.S. Chess championships online. Stunning online coverage from St. Louis, very enjoyable. I'm a Go guy, but this level of free coverage/commentary is rare and makes it fun and exciting even for a relatively low level player.

    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Feather (3)
    PAA CaD

A nice 3.5 passer. I'm BBS, refreshed and ready to rejoin the online broadcast.

    Shave #210.4 - Swamped

Swamped at work, just doing a quick shave...

About DFS+. I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the combo of West Indian Lime with menthol. When I'm done with the remainders of these soaps/creams I might ask a soap maker to make me a soap blending these two seemingly contradictory elements.

Shave #210.5 - In the Weeds

I have to apologize for the lack of straight razor content. I have been busy this year, but specifically this week is, always my busiest week of the year. I have literally thousands of essays to mark. The first year I was at this school, I marked 5800 essays in a couple weeks. This year I'll probably max out around 2400, but it still feels like a barbell on my chest.

So I haven't been shaving much, but today I crashed and burned, and want to watch a bit of TV, so I need to get this irritating stuff off my face.

A very quick shave, and surprisingly good For the fifth round on my Feather. DFS+. I did lop off a zit, at least partially because I was rushing to go and relax,...you know,...hurry up and calm down.

Shave #210.6 - The End of the Tunnel Sighted

Still in the weeds, but I can see a time when work will calm down. But, still find myself doing perfunctory shaves...

...that doesn't mean it wasn't nice. BBS. It just wasn't a relaxing straight razor shave.

    Shave #211 - A Breather

Well, things are easing off slightly, so...

    L'Occitane Shave Soap
    Semogue 2012
    DOVO Palisander 6/8" (10/3)
    Krampert's Finest Frostbite

I did a simple 2 pass shave (N-S/S-N), without bothering with the usual neck clean up. Considering how long it has been since I shaved with a straight, things went well. I'm a very comfortable overall DFS-. No nicks or unintentional use of force, so I guess I've basically got straight shaving locked into my muscle memory.

Now that my very busy year is beginning to wind down, there should be more straight razor content coming. My apologies to those who've been getting annoyed by lack of shaving, and particularly lack of straight razor shaving. But, as with all interests, time and enthusiasm go up and down.

Shave #211.1 - Hot on the Heels

Just a quick before bed shave.

    L'Occitane Shave Soap
    TOBS Badger Brush
    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Feather (2)
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum

    Around about BBS.

I don't often use my L'Occitane shave soap, but it really is nice, creamy and slick. When I first got it, I had a real tough time getting a decent lather from it. Now, for the life of me, I have no idea why that should have been. It lathers like a dream. Only downside is that scent-wise, to me, it just smells like soap. I do tend to enjoy treating myself to some more themed soap scents. But, I have been truly enjoying it these last couple days.

Shave #212 - Sweatin' in the Cubbie

Well, Spring type conditions are here, and the little cubbie-hole where I shave is becoming a virtual steam bath, which has a bad affect on my shaves, as the unavoidable sweat causes the lather to float above my skin. Plus, it's just not much fun to shave in a sauna.

    L'Occitane Shave Soap
    Semogue 2012
    DOVO Palisander 6/8" (10/4)
    PAA CaD

I did a straight 2-passer with no extra clean up. I wasn't really enjoying the experience, so I kept it brief. I walked through a lot of growth to end up CCS. Meh.

Shave #212.1 - Slightest of Burn

    Overall a nice shave...

    RazoRock Bay Rum Shave Soap
    Semogue 2012
    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Feather (3)
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum

...but, as the title implies, there was a bit of burn. I'm guessing that it is down to the weather. It has cooled off (nice), but the humidity is unbelievable. A slow 100 yard walk leaves me dripping in sweat, condensation, dew, or whatever it is. I'm guessing that is affecting my skin a bit. Nothing the Captain's Choice couldn't alleviate. I'm BBS.

    Shave #212.2 - Weekend Shave

Well, the flu has knocked me on my butt for the last couple days. Today I'm feeling human again, and to complete my transition to full humaness a shave was in order.

    Razor Seifen Shave Soap
    Semogue 2012
    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Feather (4)
    Krampert's Finest Frostbite

Well, I must still be a bit off my game. I didn't load my brush well enough, and the lather was a bit underwhelming, so I opted for an abbreviated shave. I did 2 passes (N-S, S-N) and called it good enough. I'm CCS and feeling better. Good enough effort for today.
