First Shave
Received my freshly honed razors from Fud this afternoon. So tonight I screwed up my courage and went for it. The razor shaved like a dream, no problems whatsoever. The only problem I did have was not the razor but with establishing the "right" grip due to my physical limitations. (I tore a rotator cuff and it didn't heal properly, so I have some trouble with mobility in that arm, plus I'm blind in one eye). I used the King of Shaves shaving oil and finished it off with some Nivea after shave balm. I did have a couple of weepers, but a nick aid stick and they were taken care of! I'm looking forward to my next shave already, hope it goes as well as this one did!

congrats
Well like all your other Firsts this will be a great memory... tomorrow you'll gouge a cheek but perservance will win out and soon the limits you think you have with shaving will be non-issues.
I had some razors done by FUD recently and today was the first time I used one... Much better than my attempts at honing and better than the old barber in my town.
So let the fun begin.Be just and fear not.

Thanked: 1Way to go Freebird
Remember that philosophist's saying "That which does not slice you open ear to ear, will only make you smoother"
That's a great 1st shave experience, one I hope lived up to your hopes while you were waiting for the razor to arrive.
The rest will get better and better. Enjoy!!

If you are just using a shave oil, try Pacific Shave Oil or Shave Secret, which is available at Wal Mart. Both work much better than KOS, IMO.

Congrats freebird - I'm waiting for my strop and razor to come in, so I must wait in anticipation and live vicariously through you at the moment. I'm glad the 1st shave went so well - it gives me hope that my 1st might be just as successful. I hope the Nivea worked out well for you with the sensitive skin and all.
ps - Devils beat the Islanders the other night...sorry ...not really!

I expected the Devils to beat them lol. Until they get new management I don't expect them to do a whole lot. It seems that when they pick up a good player they let him get away.
Yup, the Nivea worked great, thanks for the tip! I may regress to the DE on Monday, I've got a interview with the local newspaper that afternoon, would be my luck to have a huge gash across my face lol.

I'm glad the Nivea worked...just to let you know, I just used the Proraso green cream, and the Proraso aftershave balm....it was wonderful! Both products kept my sensitive skin nice and cool, and for the 1st time in my life, irritation FREE!
So, when you need or want to get another balm to try, I do highly suggest the Proraso - you can pick it up at Target.
Later!
