Dry coupe de maitre .....merde
So, I still haven't had the chance to send off my first questionable razor.
For two nights in a row, while watching TV, I was able to successfully perform a "coupe de maitre" dry by feel.
Pretty happy about that.
Anybody else shave by feel only, no sight?

Well, see. I've wet shaved for years with cartridges in the shower by "feel", wtg, xtg, atg. I know its not saying much as its a cartridge, but going by feel for a while.
I've felt fine doing dry passes here and there while watching TV. All good. Not sayin' as a boast, just saying I have the thing sitting in front of me in my usual seat.
Edit: I'm uneasy that I can't "Like" Ryan82's post. Awkward.Last edited by Siguy; 09-18-2013 at 01:02 AM. Reason: unease

I think how much one shaves by feel kind of sneaks up on us. We may be looking in the mirror, but, as experience increases, a lot of shaving is done by feel whether the shaver is watching or not.

OK. So I figured out exactly why I feel comfortable doing the coupe de maitre. And when I say comfortable, I mean a careful confidence, not rash abandon.
Reason: The top end of the Fusion razor that I've used for so many years, I've been using under my nose to get the top most hair where the nose meets the whiskers. I've done this carefully in the shower for ages. That's gotta be it.

We used to have a member who was totally blind and used a straight. Most of the maneuvering is done by feel anyway. Put on a blindfold and try a few simple strokes. You might be surprised how easy it is.
Of course if you try it and misfortune strikes, I didn't tell you to do it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
