Thanked: 0Newbie In Miami
Hi guys,
i'm just about brand new to the straight razor shave, maybe done it 3 times. I'm excited to learn alot of stuff from you guys.
I have a newbie question, my girlfriend got me a strop from art of shave, and i have searched but don't have a clear understanding. When stropping my razor, do i put anything on the strop, like strop paste, or leave it how it came (dry)? i'm sure you guys have answered, but i don't have a good understanding of the terminology.
Thanks Guys

Thanked: 0I also shave maybe 3-4 ttimes a month, i'm 21 and don't grow hair too fast(it takes my dad, at 50, about a week and a half to grow a full beard). So stropping isnt daily. I just want to know so that i don't mess anything up.

You need to have a clean strop for stropping your razor either before or after shaving (or both if you prefer). Much later if your blade needs a touch up you will need a strop that you have pasted. If your shaving 3-4 times a month, this could be 1-3 years down the road, depending on how good your shave technique is.

Welcome to SRP. I wouldn't recommend adding anything to your strop just yet, the natural oil from your hands is enough to condition it. Just give a it a rub down once a day.

Alot of people, including myself, learned alot from a very famous threads:
http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...stroptoberfest (lots of helpful member videos and explanations. Particularly, helpful is a detailed explanation and example by Lynn, the founder of SRP)
And:
