    Post My first razor strop

    Hello gents,

I want to say on forehand, it's been a few days since I registered on this site, and so far I learned already quite some things! this site and it's community is amazing.

So I am planning to make my very first own strop for my Antique medical surgical straight razor. What leather would be recommended to use to make the strop? Is there any specific leather needed for my razor or is this the same for about every razor out there? also any other things I need to keep an eye out for as the beginner I am to this. Any help is very much appreciated!

You can choose just about any leather. Here's a link to a "how to" in the SRP wiki.

Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

As to your leather query. Any higher quality smooth flat leather should do. Different leathers just have different treatments and draws and that is a personal choice so something with mid range draw is probably good to start with.
