Thanked: 0Newbie from La
Mike here, from Jackson, La, just N of Baton Rouge. Have not taken the straight shave plunge yet, been interested for years. I have an old Boker of grandpa's. Mainly want to learn more about Straight Razors and their accoutrement. Been using and old Gillette safety razor, off and on, for years. Belonged to the same grandpa. This looks like a really interesting sight and I can't wait to explore it more. Thanks.

MWK1975,
Welcome. There is sooo much info on this site. A good place to start, of course, is here:

Thanked: 0Boker Pics
Not exactly pristine, nothing fancy. Had this since I was a kid, never known it to have been used, but it was grandpa's. Scales seem to be plastic.

Mike, Welcome to SRP and enjoy the road ahead. Sweet looking Boker in good shape. I love the scales. Hard to tell from pics but looks like a 4/8 or 5/8. Also looks like it has some spine wear from honing so it's likely been used by someone at sometime. First thing I'd suggest is getting it professionally honed. Then lather up and buckle up.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.
