Thanked: 3First time poster---will the Dovo I ordered come shave ready?
Quick question...I just ordered a Dovo Multiwood and wanted to know if it will come shave ready, or will I need to have it honed? I'm very excited to start SR shaving. I've been obsessed with knives and sharpening since I was a boy. Can't wait for it to arrive, but hope it doesn't require a bunch of work to get it shave ready. HELP!

Thanked: 3It says on their website (all razors come "factory certified" ready to shave). I assume that means that although the factory has certified it...their definition lacks slightly and to truly get a good shave it needs to be honed?

Yes.
Thiers-Issard razors, one razor company, which many are of the opinion, comes very close to shave ready status, yet nonetheless need to be honed to achieve shave ready.
And for your first blade, I would highly recommend you get it honed, as then you will know that it is shave ready, and will eliminate many frustrations / questions you have as you begin to learn to shave with a SR.
When you are learning, and you have questions, one of the first responses you will get is to ask you if your blade is shave ready. Once that is answered that it is, then issues such as technique, stropping, lather etc...can be addressed.
Most problems for those starting out is simply not having a shave ready blade and the problems that arise from this...
Cheers...my opinion only, hope this helps!

Thanked: 3Your opinion...and everyone else's replies are much appreciated. I'm sure I'll have questions after the razor is ready to shave, and I'm grateful there is a place like this to come for help.
Thanks again.
