Thanked: 2Speed of regrowth of shaving in the morning vs shaving in the night
I found this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...ht-vs-day.html and it's sort of what I want to ask, but my question is more like does your beard or mustache grow faster / slower when you shave in the day or night ? Is there a difference ?

Thanked: 603Body hair grows at a uniform rate, period. It follows, therefore, that one who shaves at night (and works the next day) will find his "5-o'clock shadow" coming in between 10AM and noon. If I wasn't going to bed with a woman that night, I'd wait and shave first thing in the morning.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I actually prefer to shave in the evenings because I can give the proper attention to beard prep and enjoyment necessary to get a fantastically close shave. Shaving in the morning generally just causes me to rush through the process and not get as close of a shave. The difference so far has proven to be significant enough that I think I will keep this routine going permanently (or at least as long as I require a daily shave for work purposes).
The point is, if you MUST shave daily, utilizing whatever techniques work for you to get the best shave possible is the most important factor. The hair will regrow at the same rate regardless.

Wiki reply(not mine): Answer Hair actually grows slower while you are asleep then when you are awake because your heart rate slows and most of your body almost goes into a shut down mode so the more your awake the faster it will grow.

If I had to guess I would agree the hair grows slower at night only because the body metabolism slows at night. But I wouldn't bet on that guess.

All is determined by skin moisture retention and the blade and technique used. Lots of moisture retained in the skin and the hair follicles are hidden deeper below the surface. Cutting them off at skin level then allows them to be above skin level when the dermis dries out and shrinks in thickness.
There are a few of us who store up a lot of water in the body overnight and a close shave in the AM will peek through by mid day. Shaving at night with little moisture retained in the skin will last most of the next day.
There is no one size or technique to fit all persons. Try different thing and see what happens every season of the year.
