New User of a DOVO Stainless SR
All,
I recently tried to use a straight razor after using a DE razor for over 6 months. I purchased a Dovo stainless #41 along with a hanging strop and paddle strop. I had the sr8 professionally honed and have tried using it on several days (20+).
I've been paddle stropping the sr8 every morning before trying to shave with it getting very unsatisfactory results.
I want to master the sr8 as I've mastered the DE!
Help! I'm looking for a mentor in the Reston, VA area who could assist me in stropping and shaving with the sr8.

Hi Chuck, and welcome to SRP!
You might want to try sending a PM to LegalBeagle. He is in Alexandria which I believe (unless Google Maps is fibbing) quite close to Reston.
You can also add your location to your profile which will make it more visible to others.
Hang in there - it gets better with time and practice, and you're doing the very best thing in searching for a local mentor.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
