    Default Ralf aust

So I've finally broke down and am opting for something shiny and new from the SRD catalog, a Ralf Aust 5/8.
I've read every review I could find on them here, and since according to the description Lynn does a hone on it before it's shipped (whom as far as I've heard is the honemeister grandmaster) I think this should be a very very good investment for ages to come!
now with order placed I just have to be extremely patient and wait for it to arrive

That's kinda what I've more or less heard from all the reviews on it. I'm still a little disappointed in that Clauss Fremont I tried restoring (haven't completely given up on it) and the electric cutlery co nj I cleaned up COULD take an edge, but I think for now I'm best off with something that's tried true and most importantly new. Unsullied by the cruel hands of time, and someone else's neglect.

The Ralf Austs a nice razor and shaves well. Now you'll have time for restores whole shaving. Win win.

    CaleGrey,
Ralf Aust is a good choice. This is a well made razor and it takes a good edge. That Lynn has honed it makes it even better. I have several Ralf Aust razors in different sizes and love them all. I'm sure you'll be pleased with yours.

Exactly! You need a pro honed razor to compare all the rest of your work with. Don't touch it other than stropping and an occasional mild grit CrOx. Then play with the others... carefully, if you want to keep them.

Ralf Aust are great. I would order one any time I could find one! I have the 6/8 Spanish point. I know ther is a 7/8 spanish point with acrylic scales triple pin. I want that one!..

I found the ralf Aust web site but the order page is in German. One day I'll give a phone call a try and see how well they speak English enough to understand me because I don't know German.

Yeah I like my Ralf Aust- My firstr razor by the way. That's funny I sound like I'm old hat at this. I've only been SR shaving for 2 months. Now I have 5 razors and another one coming tomorrow!!! I think I have a problem

I have one myself from SDR. It is great. Smooth and comfortable. Holds the edge beautifully. Enjoy

I hope you enjoy the Ralf Aust. I am with you vicariously...SWMBO claims at 66 I'm too old to start with a SR. I think that she wants to be the one who slits my throat if it is to be slit. Still have great memories of watching my grandfather shave with his straights, as well as the memory of his advising me of another use for the strop, other than using it in the razor. Fortunately, I only saw the use on the razor, but the caution from him made an impression. Shave in good health!
