Exactly! You need a pro honed razor to compare all the rest of your work with. Don't touch it other than stropping and an occasional mild grit CrOx. Then play with the others... carefully, if you want to keep them.

Ralf Aust are great. I would order one any time I could find one! I have the 6/8 Spanish point. I know ther is a 7/8 spanish point with acrylic scales triple pin. I want that one!..

I found the ralf Aust web site but the order page is in German. One day I'll give a phone call a try and see how well they speak English enough to understand me because I don't know German.

Yeah I like my Ralf Aust- My firstr razor by the way. That's funny I sound like I'm old hat at this. I've only been SR shaving for 2 months. Now I have 5 razors and another one coming tomorrow!!! I think I have a problem

To bcw: I'm 65 and use one everyday. As long as you have one good hand and the vision is still ok, you might want to give it a try. I'd suggest a Feather like setup with a ProGuard blade to start. That way if you don't like it you can sell it easily. You won't have to worry about the hones and the strops and the 7 day sets until you've tried.

Hey you got it! I would wait an extra day for the beard to grow in and every couple of hours pull of the ralf aust and intimidate your beard hairs with it!

I'm of Norwegian descent. My beard fears no blade... It just grits it's metaphorical teeth and stands up straighter as if saying "bring it!" Which I wish the hair on the rest of my head would do... Mohawks would be SO much easier to do!

I just purchased my first straight razor from SRD, a Ralf Aust 5/8 which came in the mail yesterday. I can't wait to get started!
