My brother has an extremely light beard and, in his words, "absolutely no interest in cutting my face up with a straight razor". But, I did give him a brush and bowl for his birthday and he uses it regularly with his disposable cartridges. To each his own.

When I first considered abandoning the herd of cartridge shavers, I was told by someone that there is no single thing that offers a more significant shave experience improvement than a good quality bowl and brush cream. I am not certain if there is NO other more significant thing, but it dang sure made a huge, huge difference. I hope never to have to use canned lather again.

And that fact I will use as the camel's nose for my friends that are still in Gilette world.

I did once, along with a cartridge razor, and a good while after I'd been shaving with brushes/creams/DE's. The amount of force needed to get the cartridge razor through the gunk/gel was scary.

    Never again.

Yea I'm never going back to that canned crap. If I get deployed again I'll be stocking up before I go.
