    Default More mineral oil joys

No. Not that. Get your minds out of the gutter.

Always on the lookout for newer and quicker ways to clean old razors without resorting to sanding, I left a moderately tarnished razor to soak in mineral oil for a couple of hours yesterday and when I finally wiped it off a good amount of tarnish that my various metal polishes left behind came off fairly easily. Just thought some others might want the info....

Actually, on this one I just let the blade soak. Usually when I get an old razor, the scales are in far better shape than the blade and easier to polish up. I can't see how mineral oil could harm them, though, and I think someone once posted something about mineral oil treatments to bring life back to horn scales.
