Thanked: 284Yeah one razor is obviously fine. For the honing, like has been said either member services or sometimes guys here that are trying to "hone" their skill will take it on just for postage. I'd do that also but not for someone just starting with only one razor - they need a guaranteed good edge and that's not my forte yet
Either razor you're looking at will serve you well. What's nice about this equipment is that even if you find it's not for you you can always unload it without too much loss. Happy shaving!I love living in the past...

Thanked: 4I also am new here, and after researching and reading up on straight razors here, I fell in love with the craftsmanship coming from Japan. So I got myself a Japanese kamisori, a strop and some stones. Already am hooked on it, and if there's patience and expertise in the products I'm using, then I'm more inclined to use it more.
But will need to learn a lot more before I get the 'perfect' shave out of my razor

With the classifieds you need to check the description, if it says shave ready it should be, if it doesnt say then check with the vendor. All the guys selling are active forum members, so you should feel confident that they are being straight with you.
I have had a few razors honed by os and the price varied from $15-30 plus postage, he generally turned them around in a few days, so between 5 and 10 days dependant on the post office.
I read that one place in the UK advised to allow around 15 days.
Hope that helps.
