Thanked: 0Newb from Washington state, I love it :-)
Hey guys I just wanted to stop by and say hey to the community I have surfing this forums for a few months now and decided to join since nobody else I know understand how awsome this is. I am 27 a years old a husband and a father of 3. I have been wanting to learn for like over 10 years and just recently decided to give it a go and im hooked. Ill post a few pics of my equipment for you guys to see. Any feed back on the brands of razors would be great except for the pride cutlery one its crap I got if off ebay and I learned my lesson lol. the black and pearl white straights were my grandfathers those are the two I dont know anything about.

Thanked: 1371Welcome to SRP!
The two vintage razors should hone up and shave just fine.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Thanked: 0Yep Olympia Washington, and thanks guys I'm excited I'm actually shaving right now lol. I have been experimenting with mixing different soaps and creams.
Right now I'm using VDH deluxe and glycerin, with some cremo creme and real shaving co. Double concentrate.

Looks like you're having some fun. Have you had the razors professionally honed? If not I'd suggest you do this first. You'll be amazed how they'll shave after that's done.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Thanked: 0No I have not, the pearl white razor is not the sharpest but my black one I can get a pretty decent shave with. It certainly takes some stropping. I usually strop before I shave than before I shave sideways and than before I shave against the grain and finally at the end. Indeed it needs to be honed though money is kind of a issue right now for my family. I'm a brick mason and just got laid and fell 50 hours short of unemployment :-( or else I would have it sent off. Is there any local places that sell honing stones big 5, cabellas, Fred meyers, walmart etc... That you guys know of.

Hi and welcome. If you want to hone try find a local mentor to help you otherwise you won't know if it is truly shave ready and will defiantly reduce the learning curve.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
