    Default Dovo & "Best Quality"

Quick question guys...in reading over the sticky that informs us of what brands of razors are good and which you should stay away from, and I realized upon searching the net for razors that I have a question:

Dovo is a good brand, but Dovo has blades that are said to be "best quality" (which the sticky says to stay away from) - is this true even if it's a Dovo? Why? Is the "best quality" razors have a different quality steel that is substandard and cannot keep an edge? I wouldn't think this would be the case b/c Dovo is made in Solingen.

    Any thoughts?

I think the point is to look out for companies that ues "Best Quality" as a generic term and have no basis for such a statement. There is no reason to be concerned about Dovo.

With the Dovo razors, even the bad ones are apparently pretty good.

That sticky may have done Dovo an injustice. Don't believe everything you read here for sure. There are Pakistani made razors all over eBay that simply say "Best Quality" in the listing. It's not the name on the razor, it's not a brand or a model. It's a claim made by the sellers.

Dovo makes several, basic entry level razors all retailing around $55-60, including their model name, the "Best Quality". These are fine, hiagh carbon steel razors.

Another common misleading comment that throws newbies, "only buy razors where the name is stamped into the tang, not etched on top". Yes, for some raozors, again Pakistani imports, hinting to be German made by using names like "Rockwell Solingen" this is right on the money. For others, it is completely false. Look at most of the new Thiers Issard razors, unquestionably the best on earth, and most now have their name electro etched, not stamped into the tang.

The sticky advice is a good start but it needs to be tempered with common sense and questions as was done here.
