Thanked: 0Thanks to the folks on this forum!
Hey, so I decided to try this out as my face is super sensitive and does not like multi blade razors. I've been use a fusion and could only make one pass before my face turned beet red. I purchased a Dovo Shavette and after 45 cuts (might be an understimate) and using an alum bar, decided to not partake in this lifestyle...I decided to check out the forums a bit more and people guided me into buying a straight and told me that the straight would be more forgiving. So I decided to buy a Dovo 5/8 BQ straight from straightrazordesign...I just shaved for the first time and am blown away...My face is BB smooth and the alum bar only stung in my 4 nicks...all my nicks were in the neck area so I gotta watch some vids on better technique, but my goattee looks sharp and face looks and feels smooth after 2 passes...A forum is only as strong as its members, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone with the awesome advice and lessons...couldn't be happier tonight and sooner or later I'll be able to have multiple passes with no cuts!

Thanked: 1184Go easy. It's not hard to get too confident and start causing yourself problems. Once you get a technique down maybe check out more on prep and be careful on the strop. It sounds like you found a way to enjoy shaving like I did. Good soaps and creams make a big difference also.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

That's awesome rook! I have been using a parker shavette for sometime now and get consistent BBS shaves (face and neck in all directions) although it takes me an hour. Lol. I have decided to challenge myself and buy a straight from SRD too! Glad to hear about your experience. It gives me hope and helps me out too so thanks right back at you
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
