Yes there are , the Dovo best starts at around $80 new,
you can also look in the classified here and fid something used if you would prefer that or a different style from the Dovo.
I believe the Ralph Aust's and Boker's starts right around $100 new at SRD.

You would do good to look at the classified. Unless you really want new. Shave ready is all you need, the rest is want :<0)

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Would this be any good. I never trust amazon reviews. Especially since it's a beginner kit and only two of reviews.

I started out trying to do things on the cheap. Kits from Amazon, bargains from ebay etc. If you are on a budget you will soon blow it trying to get stuff on the cheap unless you look in the right places. The classifieds on here really do offer some amazing deals. The site sponsors also offer some brilliant prices if you would rather new over vintage restored. If there were bargains to be had then the guys on this site would have found them! Do yourself a favour and spend a little extra up front to save in the long run.

Most of the starter sets off the auction sites offer high quality letter openers. Leave them alone and follow the above advice. You will tend to get what you pay for and cheap equals useless. Good luck. Ed
