Default Can anyone give me some advice?

    Hello all,

I have been spending a lot of time on this site because I am trying to figure out which straight razor would be the best for me to buy for my partner (it will be his first). There are so many choices that I am feeling fairly lost...I have found a few razors on etsy. Here are three that I am looking at:

    https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1639...?ref=related-1

    https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1639...?ref=related-2

    https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1272...solingen+razor

Does anyone have advice for which may be the best?

    Thank you,
    Terra

Have you taken a look at the classifieds here? There are several vintage razors that would appear to be in a better condition than the links you gave.

I think a new DOVO best quality will be a better choice.
All the three razors you are considering are IMO overpriced for the condition they are in.
You can get something from the classifieds as well.

Great, thank you. I will check out the classifieds and DOVO.
Would this be a better choice?

Those are very good razors, also stain resistant so much smaller chance to rust if left wet by chance.

I would take a henckels over a Dovo anyday, especially that gorgeous beaut! That scale can always be replaced if it becomes an issue.

I have a Friodur 72, with a square point (6/8), same etching on the blade. It's one of my best razors. It takes a great edge and shaves wonderfully. Wonderful gift.

That razor is in great condition, I have seen it. You will be happy with it.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
