    Default Good Afternoon!

    Good afternoon,

I am new to this forum but I am really interested in learning more about straight razors and the art of shaving. I am starting to look for a good entry level razor and materials. Any help and direction would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome to SRP. Suggest you head to the library for some heavy reading.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

    Yes, what they said.
If you do buy a razor from the classifieds, just check that it is shave ready. The vendor will state if it is in the advert.
For Strops star shavings big daddy and whipped dogs rich man's strop are suppposed to be good and good value for money, SRD make a modular paddle strop which is also very popular. I can't speak for the quality personally as I have a homemade strop. But if you use the search box and type any of these in you will come.up with some threads about them.
If you want to really treat yourself then there are a few custom makers too.
Soap, cream and brush are a bit of a try it and see thing but you don't have to spend much.

If you decide to go new, go shave-ready. The vendors that advertise on SRP are the best -- SRD.com; the Classic Edge; etc.

Also it might pay to call or email them, and discuss what you're looking for.
